When my sister and I decided our next album of classroom songs should cover Growth Mindset, we knew we'd found a timely, important subject and we hoped our music would help kids learn new skills. Little did we know that the process of creating the album would teach us as well!
For the past 26 years, I have collected, hoarded, stored, and displayed every item I deemed crucial for teaching kindergarten. In this newspaper clipping from April 2012, you can get an idea of my Kindergarten Kaleidoscope. You’ll notice action and color. My old belief was “Keep Them Busy and Keep Them Awake!” I nailed it. NAILED. IT.
Most of us pay close attention to how our body feels. We visit the doctor when we're sick and alter our diet when we react negatively to certain foods. But, how many of us pay attention to our mental well-being? The mind works in a similar way to the body, thriving off of healthy choices and struggling under stress.
Looking for gift ideas for the kids on your holiday shopping list? This year, I decided to give all my young nieces and nephews books instead of toys. I think their parents will appreciate fewer gadgets and gizmos, and I love the chance to help grow their libraries.
